Greetings ,
2008 promises to be a great year, and with your help, Nebraska will see its highest ever percentage of motorists using their safety belts.
We've changed the look of the Click It Chronicle! We hope you enjoy the new format and we look forward to continuing to inspire your efforts to encourage Nebraskans to buckle up. |
| You Can Earn Honor Roll honors! |
|
The January Governor's Proclamation for the Click It Honor Roll starts big with three groups being honored for their work to increase safety belt use in Nebraska. The Village Of Pilger recorded 89% on their first observation, and an outstanding 100% on their second! The City of Lincoln Health Department emphasizes safety belts and reported a lot of great discussion in December staff meetings. The Rotary Club in Wilber did their checks at the Wilber-Clatonia school and reports that the kids are doing a better job than the adults in the safety belt arena! Congratulations to all!
Join the growing list of Honor Roll members by observing whether members of your group are buckled up! If over 80% are buckled on your 2 observation occasions, your group can be added to this prestigious list. |
| Another Promising Student Killed in Car Crash |
|
| While this was a World Herald headline, it could be in any paper at any time. All too frequently, there is news of a student killed in a crash. Teens and young adults are a main focus of the Click It campaign because their tendency to not use their safety belt is matched by their driving inexperience and unfortunate tendency to take chances. These factors make a lethal combination in too many cases.
If you have influence on any groups of teens or young adults, suggest a seatbelt check for their next project. They can fulfill hours requirements for volunteer duties and win Honor Roll recognition for their group. They may not want to hear it, but they may even save lives. |
