Dear Neighbor:
On Saturday, May 14 I am co-hosting the Mortgage Relief Project with other local elected officials.
This seminar will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Lincoln Park High School auditorium located at 2001 N. Orchard Street and is in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. The Mortgage Relief Project is a statewide initiative of Governor Quinn to help homeowners avoid foreclosures and keep their homes, and I am thrilled that this event will be held right here in the 12th district.
We have been working hard in Springfield to pass new laws and implement new state programs that help people keep their homes. The Homeowner Protection Act grants a grace period of up to 90 days on mortgage foreclosures if the homeowner seeks housing counseling. This workshop is an opportunity for homeowners to better understand all of their mortgage options while possibly even lowering their mortgage payments.
At this free workshop, homeowners can receive advice on mortgage refinancing, foreclosure prevention, legal rights, credit counseling and avoiding scam artists. Homeowners will also be able to obtain private one-on-one counseling with HUD-certified counselors on a first-come, first-served basis. Homeowners should bring their latest mortgage documents (bills, statements, notices, etc.), two most recent pay stubs, and a state ID or driver's license.
To register for the event, for more information on the Mortgage Relief Project, or for a list of documents needed to complete a full application for loan modification contact the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation at 1-800-532-8785 or visit www.idfpr.com.
Please do not hesitate to contact my office at (773) 296-4141 or sara@staterepsara.com if we can ever be of assistance to you.
Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
Very truly yours,
Sara Feigenholtz
