Alaska Center for the Environment is gearing up for the 2011 Spring Auction, to be held on Friday, April 22, 2011 (Earth day!) at the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center. We are currently putting together a planning committee and are looking for volunteers. The first full planning meeting is on Wednesday, January 26 at ACE at 6pm (snacks and drinks provided!) and each month after that until the big day.

Help Show PEOPLE MOVER Some Love!

 ACE needs your help to meet and greet bus riders on Monday, February 14th (that's right...Valentine's Day!) to show People Mover some love! We'll be encouraging our members to ride the bus on this day.
From meeting folks at key stops along Routes 9 & 45 on that day to helping to organize businesses for a Bus-to-Work Day before the event, we've got a job for you!

| Climate Cafes & Low Carbon Diets

 If you're among those who understand the seriousness of climate change, you probably feel called to do something about it. ACE has two volunteer positions available working for our Low Carbon Diet program that will make a huge impact in the community. The Low Carbon Diet, presented during Climate Change Cafes at local businesses, will show how people can make enough simple adjustments to their lifestyles to significantly reduce their annual CO2 output. Climate Change Cafes will be fun, inspiring, community-building events. Position 1: Climate Change Cafe Presenter. Duties include event set up and helping to introduce the Low Carbon Diet to people. Time commitment: one night per month for the rest of the year. Position 2: Climate Change Cafe Business Liaison. Duties include forming partnerships with 9 local businesses who will host Climate Change Cafes and commit to reducing their CO2 output. Time commitment: variable, until 9 businesses sign up.

| Alaska Ocean Film Festival 2011

The Alaska Ocean Film Festival travels to coastal communities around Alaska to celebrate the wonders of our  ocean environment. ACE needs volunteers in various communities around Southcentral and Southeast Alaska to help with events.
