Greetings!
Jay - C-park 1

Are you as amazed as I am at how technology is changing our lives on an almost daily basis?  While I was in Kenya, I was able to send photos and video from my cell phone and have them posted on our studio Facebook page within minutes. Amazing!  It is a far cry from the time when we waited anxiously for days to get out photos back from the lab and the only cell phones were on Star Trek!

In response to the email and phone requests that have been coming in from our clients and friends, we've launched our Facebook page, and we'll be sharing studio photography and videos on Facebook on a regular basis now.  We've already posted many of the images from my recent trip to Africa, and there are more to come.  I hope that you enjoy them.  Become a fan.  Check out the photos and videos and write your comments on the wall.

Join us on our Fletcher Portrait Artist Facebook page, share in the fun, and become a fan.

MARY KAY GUILLAUME ON THE FLETCHER EXPERIENCE

Here's what Mary Kay Guillaume has to say about the experience having her daughter's portraits done by Jay.
PHOTO TIP - EVERYTHING DOESN'T HAVE TO BE CENTERED

_W9Q3520.jpg We all fall into the trap of assuming that the subject should be centered in the image.  Who says so?

I really like this image which I took several years ago during a golf tournament.  I like it for a couple of reasons.  First of all, it captures the motion of the scene and makes the viewers feel as though they are they are walking with the subjects of the photo.  Secondly, it gives the viewer the odd feeling that the subjects are about to walk right out of the frame.  In other words, it's interesting.  It's unusual.  It's not predictable.

It would be a mistake to compose every photograph in exactly the same way.  Some images need to be centered in order to tell their story.  Just don't tie your creativity up with so many rules that you take all of the fun and excitement out of taking pictures.

The occasional off-centered image is a great way to capture the interest of the viewer and add an artistic flair to your pictures, and, after all is said and done, photography is all about art.
