| EDUCATION | |
The AGC TED Forum will host a Town Hall webinar on August 29, 2012, to discuss professional credentials and their use in the design and construction industry. How credentials such as the widely recognized LEED AP and the newly launched CM-BIM credential from AGC of America are used in the marketplace and who needs them will be the focus of this webinar.
After a brief presentation of credentialing concepts and terminology, the Town Hall will turn to a panel of professionals for discussion of credentials in our industry. Attendees will hear about credentialing programs being used in a construction management degree program to train and measure competency in graduating seniors as well as their application in the marketplace. Our panelists represent a cross-section of professionals from industry and higher education and will provide an excellent opportunity to hear about the past, present, and future of professional credentialing.
Attendees will also learn about the ongoing efforts of AGC's Training, Education & Development Forum. It will be held from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, Aug. 29.

A Message from: Americans for Immigration Reform
Texas has always carried the distinction of being one of the best places to do business in the entire USA. That's great for those of us here but even better for those contractors who want to come here. The fact that we have within our borders several hundred thousand undocumented workers bodes well for many contractors who want to come into the state and have an instant labor force. Legitimate Texas contractors who have fought the wars for the past six years, trying to comply with complicated employment laws, have purged their payrolls of undocumented workers with the assistance of ICE audits, no-match letters, and a myriad of other avenues that create 'constructive knowledge' that an employee is not legal. Thousands of trained, quality workers who are not legal have been removed from tax paying jobs and pushed into this available labor pool - many going into the 'underground' economy and ready to go to work as " independent contractors'. AGC Houston collects and publishes resumes online nearly every day as a member service. Job seekers on our site are specifically looking for work (or have experience in) the commercial construction industry. If your firm is hiring, we encourage you to review the resumes we have on file to see if we have a match for you!
