FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 2, 2012 (Houston, Texas) - Today, Associated General Contractors of America - Houston Chapter (AGC Houston) members from all over the city demonstrated their commitment for safe job sites by participating in an Annual Safety Stand Down. When all was said and done, members and their subcontractors standing down for safety totalled over 1,400 companies; affecting over 6,000 construction workers in just the Houston area alone.
Through collaborated efforts with area OSHA officials, the AGC Houston Safety Committee first established the Safety Stand Down in 2003. With each year comes a new safety theme. This year's focus was on Fall Protection.
"It is our industry's responsibility to ensure that everyone working on our job sites goes home safely every night," says Brandon Boyd of Fretz Construction AGC Houston Safety Committee Chair, "this annual Safety Stand Down is the perfect way to educate our employees and to reiterate our committment to safe working environments."
