21st ANNUAL FAIR & BBQ COOK-OFF -
March 23, 2012

There is still time to register for the 21st Annual BBQ Cook Off. The event, being held March 23rd at the Houston Farm and Ranch Club, will include our regular competition cook teams, exhibitors and sponsors. In addition, this year we are offering a limited number of Lounge Tents for members who wish to participate in the event but who lack skills at the BBQ! Sporting Clays Tournament - New Date: May 14, 2012
The Sporting Clays Tournament scheduled for last Friday, February 17th was postponed due to inclement weather. The new tournament date is Monday, May 14th. Registered teams will remain on the current player list unless we receive a cancellation notice from the team leader. We will also open the registration once again for teams who were interested in playing but could not participate on the original event date. Registration forms can be found here.

EDUCATION / TRAINING

EXAM: CERTIFICATE OF MANAGEMENT - BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING (BIM) - March 2, 2012

For AEC professionals, the AGC Certificate of Management-Building Information Modeling (CM-BIM) is an assessment-based certificate credential that denotes knowledge and understanding of concepts related to BIM adoption, practice and process transformation outlined in the AGC BIM Education Program. Successful candidates will carry the CM-BIM designation.  Click here for details.

 

OSHA 30-HOUR - March 7, 2012

This course is designed for project management, site supervision, & field employees involved in theconstruction industry. Many owners are now requiring that site supervision obtain the 30 Hour constructionoutreach training program as an orientation to occupational safety and health covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926. BIM UNIT 3: CONTRACT NEGOTIATION AND RISK ALLOCATION - March 20, 2012

This full-day course examines BIM and contract terminology to determine best practices for integrating BIM use into project contracts. Hot-button issues such as standard of care, intellectual property rights, and insurance and surety bonding coverage are discussed to help participants become BIM champions within their organizations. LEAN CONSTRUCTION EDUCATION PROGRAM

To help contractors develop the knowledge needed to build Lean, the Associated General Contractors of America developed the Lean Construction Education Program. Construction professionals at all experience levels, will learn the building blocks necessary to transform their projects and companies into a lean operating system.
