AGC HOUSTON PRESENTS A SILICA SAFETY UPDATE - January 6, 2012
This session is a MUST for every construction company: Silica not only affects those companies working in concrete and masonry, but those working in the same environment as these companies. AGC of America has studied these conditions revealing contrast to OSHA's findings. The impact of OSHA's proposed standard, regarding this issue, will affect every construction employee on a jobsite. Click here for details.
FIRST AID - CPR - AED TRAINING - January 18, 2012
Meet the requirements of OSHA Paragraph 1926.50 which calls for a person on the jobsite to have a valid certificate in first aid training in the absence of infirmary, clinic, or physician that is reasonably accessible in terms of time and distance to the worksite. Completion of this course meets the requirements of this standard, and participants will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid and CPR/AED wallet card valid for two years upon course completion. Click here for details.
BIM 101: AN INTRODUCTION TO BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING - January 26, 2012
The full-day course will give participants a comprehensive overview of BIM, supported by case studies to help participants comprehend each session's learning objectives. BIM 101 will introduce important concepts that will be necessary for future BIM courses. Click here for details.

Complaints of I-9 Documentation Discrimination on the Rise
The Department of Justice, through its Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices (OSC), has filed a complaint against the University of California, San Diego Medical Center alleging unfair documentary practices. Commonly referred to as "document abuse," the law prohibits employers from requesting more or different documents than required to verify employment eligibility, rejecting reasonably genuine-looking documents, or specifying certain documents over others with the purpose of discriminating on the basis of citizenship status or national origin.
