August 9, 2011

Greetings!

Please plan to join us on August 23 for a breakfast briefing on compliance with the Davis Bacon Act. The seminar will provide a very helpful overview of coverage and compliance issues relating to obligations to pay prevailing wages on government construction contracts. The presentation will also address the Davis Bacon wage survey that the U.S. Department of Labor is currently seeking to update.

Sincerely,

Tamara Hancock

Director of Communications

THE "DREADED" DAVIS BACON SURVEY

By Tony Sturgio, Andrews Myers PC

DOL_LaborAs if the recent U.S. Census push wasn't bad enough, here now you're being asked to divulge your private company payroll information for the Davis Bacon Act (DBA) Survey... and it's understandable why many of you might not be planning to respond. The survey is tedious, flawed, outdated in its methodology, and did I mention intrusive? Unfortunately, this Depression-era legislation remains in effect and will continue to impact nearly all construction projects receiving federal funds. In an uncertain economy, where the most significant growth category we've seen of late relates to these same federally funded projects, it's wise to understand the survey's importance to your bottom line.  Click here to read on...
