BIM TECHNOLOGY - June 14-15, 2011
Pre-Requisite: BIM 101 - Introduction to Building Information Modeling
BIM Technology explores the major applications and classes of BIM tools across all project phases; how BIM processes for QTO, shop drawing and fabrication, and construction scheduling can improve projects; and the impact models have for improving estimating, scheduling, and coordinating. This two-day (16-hour) course is designed specifically for construction professionals to establish a solid process for selecting BIM tools and to investigate the significant impact models have for improving estimating, scheduling and coordinating.

SAFETY 
OSHA 30-HOUR - June 6-10, 2011
This course is designed for project management, site supervision, & field employees involved in the construction industry. Many owners are now requiring that site supervision obtain the 30 Hour construction outreach training program as an orientation to occupational safety and health covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926. This class is NOT a prerequisite for the OSHA 500 course. If you want to take the OSHA 500 course you must take the OSHA 510 course.

The Mid Year Safety Meeting will feature keynote speaker, Peter Davis, Chief of Galveston Beach Patrol and of the Park Board Police Department.  In addition, the AGC Houston Safety Awards will be presented and Safety Stand Down participants will be recognized.

ALDINE ISD SUMMER TEACHER INTERN PROJECT
June 13-16
The Aldine Independent School District's Career and Technical Educational Department is looking for a few interested construction companies willing to host approximately six CTE teachers during their 2011 Summer Teacher Intern Project.    The purpose of the project is to expose teachers to the actual world of construction so that they can gather data to write curriculum for lessons in math, writing, reading and building trades. 

DAVIS-BACON WAGE SURVEY HAS BEGUN

US Department of Labor Begins Long Awaited Study in Texas 

The DOL began a mass mailing of surveys yesterday in order to get feedback for upcoming changes to the Davis-Bacon wages in Texas.  Contractors are encouraged to submit data on all commercial building projects (both federal and private) which were underway between March 1, 2010 and August 31, 2010.  Watch for your survey documents in the mail, or find them here:
