Beijing, China, May 11, 2011 - Kyland is proud to unveil its new intelligent modular platform SICOM GPT series which is an All-in-One solution integrating IEEE1588v2, SyncE, full gigabit, and both layer 2 & Layer 3 availability for power utilities. This is the first industrial Ethernet switch worldwide implementing IEEE1588v2 clock synchronization on full gigabit layer 3 platform which represents the most advanced technology in the area of industrial communication. Combining IEEE1588v2 and SyncE (ITU-T.G.8261/G.8262), the synchronization precision accuracy of Kyland's new SICOM GPT series can reach 10 nanoseconds that obviously meets all the highest level of requirements for clock synchronization solution in smart grid and power utilities.

SICOM GPT Series is equipped with Kyland's patent IEC62439-6 ring protocol as well as DT-Ring, RSTP/STP, MSTP and VRRP. Mini USB console port enables easy configuration backup and restore. SICOM GPT series has GPS module, enabling the device to function as the clock source - offering accurate timing information obtained from GPS or Beidou GPS satellites. It also support IRIG-B input and output modules which enable the customer to synchronize the whole system including those large number of IRIG-B devices. The new SICOM GPT series is fully compliant with IEC61850-3 and IEEE1613 standards (KEMA certification in progress).
Supporting up to 28 full Gigabit connections, the SICOM GPT series has one 1U Gigabit slot for 4 Gigabit uplink ports, and 6 0.5U slots with 4 Gigabit or 100M ports on each module. All the optional modules are available for the whole series which includes 8 different models. With all high density ports being on rear panel, the SICOM GPT series is 1U height with only 360mm (14.17 inch) depth. These industrial managed Ethernet switches deliver great bandwidth, SFP expansions, network redundancy technology, both layer 2 and layer 3 management features, a fanless design, a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F), and future proof protection of your industrial network.
This new platform including 8 different models will be released in Q3-Q4 2011. It is also ready to support 4 10G uplink module and max 8 802.3at PoE ports with 30 watts power per port. These two features will be expanded in later version.
