As another year comes to a close, we reflect upon SSC's notable accomplishments in 2011.  We have had the privilege of working on a number of outstanding projects with a distinguished list of clients.  These projects not only set SSC apart, but also provided the opportunity to demonstrate the business case for sustainability across multiple industries. 

 

Some of our major accomplishments in 2011 include: 

• Developed and conducted numerous training programs which assisted clients with integrating sustainability into their company culture, increasing sales and brand recognition as well as reducing environmental impacts and operating costs.
• Developed Sustainable Product Development Checklist and Guidelines and related training that are assisting multiple clients with developing more sustainable products.
• Conducted sustainability assessments and assisted with sustainability program implementation at multiple facilities, resulting in over $1.5 million in cost savings.
• Developed Sustainable Buildings and Operations Checklist and Guidelines to assist facility managers with reducing costs and improving the environmental performance of existing buildings, renovations and new construction.
• Played an integral role in developing and publishing 4 Environmental Product Declarations for CertainTeed Ceilings - an industry first for Ceilings products.
• Designed the tallest solar panel Installation in Philadelphia - James A. Byrne Courthouse.
• Provided LEED Certification Services for noteworthy projects, including:
  •  Abington Reldan Metals, Fairless Hills, PA - LEED for New Construction (NC) Silver Certification awarded for this newly constructed manufacturing facility
  • Sheraton Lincoln Harbor Hotel, Weehawken, NJ - Awarded New Jersey's first LEED Silver Certification for Commercial Interiors (CI)  
• Benchmarked additional 19 buildings in ENERGY STAR, with 10 achieving ENERGY STAR certification. 

Sadly, while reflecting on the significant achievements in 2011, it also brings to mind the tragic loss of Ray Anderson, one of the leading stewards in sustainability.  Ray was a true inspiration to our firm and we will further his mission of corporate sustainability.

 

As 2012 approaches, we look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with our associates and clients and to integrate sustainable solutions into their business models.  Our achievements over the past year give us the motivation to continue growing and pushing toward our goal of a sustainable economy.  We hope you join us in this endeavor!
