The laptop is becoming more and more popular as a primary computer. Many families are adopting them because their portability outweighs their comparative drawbacks in all other areas. If you want to keep your laptop running as well as it can there are a few things you need to do.
Never lay your laptop on a bed or couch. Your laptop is a computer and as such it has a motherboard, a hard drive and other components which create a great deal of heat. In order to dissipate this heat your laptop has to exhaust air via vents. These vents are almost always on the bottom of the laptop[. When put the laptop on any soft fabric surface like the comforter of a bed you might as well be putting a pillow over its face. Place the laptop on your lap, a lap board, a table or any flat hard surface that will allow airflow under the machine.
Hit the openings with compressed air every now and then. Dust can get in the crevasses of the machine and a blast of compressed air can really help clear it out. It won't get rid of all of the dust because the laptop's compact size makes that nearly impossible, but it will help.
be careful of your laptop's ports. When you have a USB cable plugged in or your laptop's power cord is plugged in be extra careful. These plugs can be hit and bent. If this happens the internal connectors on the motherboard can be irreparably damaged thus necessitating a motherboard replacement. Baby your laptop's ports and they will work for a long time
.
Always completely shut down your laptop if you plan on not using it for a while. If I am not going to use my laptop for more than an hour I shut it completely down. This has the benefit of saving all of the components wear and tear and it refreshes the memory and updates the operating system with any installed updates or programs.
If you follow these steps your laptop should work a lot better in the long run.
