What Are People Saying?
"Sitting Kills, Moving Heals has made me rethink my daily routine... Dr. Vernikos' book is a real eye-opener." ~ www.hvparent.com

Dr. Joan's Life Tip of The Month

Walk regularly at moderate intensity for easily achievable benefits - 100 steps per minute is great, To keep that pace hum or listen to the Bee Gees' song Stayin' Alive while you walk. The song's tempo is 100 beats per minute. (Thanks to Simon Marshall, PhD at UC San Diego for this tip).

What is Dr Joan up to?

May has been a busy month of talks and visits. I find my message is taking me to more senior residential facilities. It is very interesting to compare the differences. So much is dependent on their leadership and staff:
- A wonderful visit with my son George in Steamboat Springs, CO to spread the Sitting Kills, Moving Heals word. First on May 2nd spoke at the strikingly beautiful and organized Werner Library. Then May 3rd was welcomed by Joan Lucas at the Doak Walker Center and exchanged stories with about 15 spry ladies, ranging in age from 80s to 100. The centenarian was the liveliest and engaging lady of the group. My observation is that those who age best have great attitude, curiosity and pride in themselves and their appearance.
-May 17th I was the lunch speaker at a packed main dining room of the Baptist Residential Community Center on the Importance of Moving to those considering their own long-term care .
-Beth Howard of US News & World Report interview on May 24th for an upcoming special issue on the health hazards of too much sitting. Look out for it!
-NEW BOOK OUT!!: Ritardare l'INVECCHIAMENTO e Possibile (Delaying Aging is Possible) co-authored with my colleague Dr. Felix Strollo, Scientific plansThought Editions publishers(2012). It is the Italian version based on my book The G-Connection: Harness Gravity and Reverse Aging (2004).

Some of our Upcoming Events:
