What Are People Saying?
"I look forward to getting my hands on a pile of your books - so many people I know would devour it!" Jennifer Vassos, Los Angeles, CA.

Dr. Joan's Life Tip of The Month

Next time you start feeling a bit yucky and notice that you just haven't been "exercising" enough, just get up and go for a short walk around the neighborhood. Or head to the garden for an hour. Or do some stretching on the carpet in the living room. You get the idea. Simply noticing that you don't feel quite right and then courageously taking one or two small actions is all you need to make a shift towards feeling better.

What is Dr Joan up to?
-In early April spoke in Wilmington, NC on Sitting Kills, Moving Heals, at the New Hanover Senior Center. We enjoyed an enthusiastic turnout of massive wisdom.
-From there I headed on to Hampton, VA, and Taksha University. Our Workshop on Caregiving Fatigue was postponed due to low sign ups. Why did we not think that it is near impossible for Caregivers to take time off for themselves?!
-As part of a wellness program, on April 18th I spoke to Chancellorsville High School employees on Stress Management.
-On April 19 I was interviewed by Gary Calligas of "The Best of Times" radio program. It is to be aired at 11:30 am EST (9:30am CST) on May 5th. You can listen to it at www.KWKH.com.

Some of our Upcoming Events:
  • I'm heading to the Rockies and my son's home in the mountains! On May 2nd, from 6-7:30pm, at Library Hall in Steamboat Springs, CO I'll be speaking on Sitting Kills, Moving Heals in their Health Perspectives series.
  • On May 17th at 1pm I am speaking on "The Importance of Moving" at the Family Ties luncheon for potential retirees at the Baptist Residential Retirement Community Center in Culpeper, VA.
  • May 31st at 7pm sees me speaking on "Burnout or Guilt" at the reception on care giving for friends, relatives and children of future and current residents of the Baptist Residential Retirement Community Center.
  • Planning to take my message this summer to Wisconsin, and possibly Chicago. Then I hope to grab my passport and head to London.
Words of Wisdom
"I am more and more convinced that our happiness or our unhappiness depends far more on the way we meet the event of life than on the nature of those events themselves." ~ Karl Wilhelm von Humboldt
