What Are People Saying?
"I really enjoyed your discussion on 2/23/12 for the NASA Ames Director's Colloquium. It was life changing for me and I've shared what you explained to us to my family and co-workers. Thank you so much for your dedication."  ~ Arelene Spencer, Exec. Secretary, NASA, Ames Research Center

Dr. Joan's Life Tip of The Month

Maintaining good health is a habit in self-awareness. This awareness is what allows you to make choices that are beneficial throughout your daily life. And always look to people with qualities that support your healthy choices - it's much more effective and fun than trying to do it all on our own.

What is Dr Joan up to? -March 3rd, spoke on Sitting Kills, Moving Heals at the Culpeper Library,VA, followed March 10th by a fabulous private book-signing party in Sperryville, VA.
-Was hosted March 19th and 21st for two talks at Hadassah Chapters in Bethesda and Silver Springs, MD on "Staying Healthy and Independent in Today's World."  A 91-year-old attendee there runs a daily fitness class for seniors at the local LeisureWorld while her friend said she dances for activity and fun - she has kitchen chairs with rollers on the feet and holds on to them while she dances!
-I just returned from Canada at The University of Western Ontario, School of Health Studies. In this context the subject was "What is Aging - Lessons from Space." Over the course of the visit I spoke with 300 undergraduates in a Health and Aging course who had never thought of themselves in the context of Aging. It was an eye-opener for them and for me. Another talk was with graduate students, faculty and the general public for a Sitting Kills, Moving Heals talk & book signing organized by the University bookstore.
