| ÜBERPAINTING
DECEMBER 2010 |
Hello and welcome to December.....
This is the last newsletter until February so if you want to know my whereabouts over the next two months please check the gallery opening times to the right in this email.
Having committed to the Works on Paper fair at the British Science museum in February I am busy working on some new Überpaintings. I have the designs of three of them complete; the next stage is to blow them up into super large pieces.
I hope you enjoy the three paintings in this months newsletter, any comments please feel free to drop me an email.
Wishing you all the very best for Christmas and the New Year. kindest regardsMatt

Über Mountains 1
| | Über Mountains 1 700mm x 500mm £1250 |
In the last Newsletter I was working on the Lake District Study. I then stripped it back down into a very different yet equally effective painting.
I love the palette here its sheer simplicity is its strength. |
|
Über Mountains 2
| | Über Mountains 2 700mm x 500mm £1650 |
Having deconstructed the painting I then over a period of 2 weeks rebuilt it and ended up with this composition.
This is an extremely complex piece and very difficult to execute. It will be a challenge to enlarge it.
I'm particularly pleased with the depiction of the scree, again touching on an almost surreal repetition. |

Cornfield
| | Cornfield 700mm x 500mm £1450 |
I still have a lot of work to finish from the summer.
I previewed some sketch work from this composition at the AAF in Battersea and they all sold. So I have taken it on further. Unusually the options here were more limited. The repetition in the cloud formations and the shadows, particularly in the foreground were pleasing.
The distinctive shapes and form particular to an Überpaintings are developing well here.
An altogether brighter piece to get us through the winter. |
