October is here which means cooler weather is right around the corner! Fall is a great time to be outside in Central Florida and the perfect time to try out a new way of getting to work. Riding a bicycle, walking, or taking the bus is a chance to enjoy the great weather before starting your work day. If you're interested in taking the next step and trying a different way to get to work, reThink has several resources to help get you started. Our website contains bicycling and walking resources, as well as the "How to Ride" basics for all of the bus companies in Central Florida. And we're always just a phone call or e-mail away! |

We Have a Winner!
This summer, reThink and the Florida Department of Transportation challenged area leadership to a "Carpool Challenge" to see who could carpool the most. Several municipalities and transportation partners participated and the winners have been determined.
On October 15, MetroPlan Orlando was recognized as the organization that had the highest percentage of employees sign up to take advantage of reThink's free ridematching services to find a carpool/vanpool partner.
The individual winner for the most days carpooling was Cathy Goldfarb, Board Services Coordinator at MetroPlan Orlando. Cathy carpooled to and from work the most days during the challenge.
Congratulations to Cathy and to MetroPlan and to all of the Carpool Challenge participants! |

Plan Ahead for Halloween
With Halloween around the corner, be sure to allow extra time for your commute home. Parents often leave work early to trick or treat with their children before sunset (estimated at 6:41PM on October 31), which can make traffic on the way home more than a little scary.
Aside from the possibility of increased congestion, be aware of the extra pedestrians on and around neighborhood streets during this time of year. A little extra vigilance can help everyone enjoy a safe holiday! |
Congratulations are due to LYNX' Communications Team, which earned multiple marketing awards at the 2011 Florida Public Transit Association (FPTA) conference, including the "Award of Excellence."
