Volusia County reThinks Transit Service in New Smyrna Beach
Faced with budget constraints but a community in need of transit service, Volusia County is trying something new.
Instead of cutting all transit service in southeast Volusia, the County Council has directed Votran to consider flex service.
"The flex alternative is a modified paratransit service that will cover the same geographic area of the existing routes. This is something new for all of us," stated Votran General Manager Ken Fischer.
No changes are definite yet; the Volusia County Council will vote on the final county budget at their September meeting.

The first step is to register your alternative commute with reThink. If you have to leave work due to an emergency, reThink would then reimburse the cost of your ride home, whether it was a cab, a rental car, or a friend picking you up. reThink wants you to know that you have a back-up plan in case of an emergency!
