New Special Assessment Announced

All Employers Required To Make 1-Time Payment
The Alabama Department of Industrial Relations announced a one-time special assessment will be charged to all employers to offset expenses related to the Unemployment Compensation Trust Fund.
Following is a summary of the special assessment requirements:
- Every employer in Alabama will be required to pay the assessment.
- Amount due is equal to .07% (seven-hundredths of one percent) of total taxable wages paid in 2010.
- Employers will receive a letter from AL DIR with the amount of their assessment.
- Payment will be due September 9th via electronic funds transfer on the AL DIR website or by check.
