Discontinuing Children's
Liturgy of the Word
We strive to serve all who come through our doors on Saturday evenings. Children's Liturgy of the Word was designed to serve our elementary aged children. Due to low attendance we have decided to discontinue this ministry for now, honoring the time our teachers take in preparing and our coordinator, Kay Schmitt, who devoted many hours to recruiting and scheduling teachers and assistants. After Thanksgiving we will no longer offer Children's Liturgy of the Word.
We thank all of our devoted teachers and assistants who have walked with our little ones. We hope to better serve our families in other ways - such as developing nursery care for parents of small children and planning more frequent family-style Sunday morning Masses, similar to our outdoor Mass a few weeks ago. Let someone on the Parish Council know if you are interested in helping with these or other ministries to serve our children.

Advent & Christmas
Ordinary time is drawing to a close. We will celebrate the first Sunday of Advent on November 26th. It's a beautiful season of preparation and anticipation. If you have any ideas in regard to our liturgies for Advent, please email Jessica who will be pulling them together in the coming weeks.
Also, please note that SCF will celebrate Christmas Mass on Sunday, December 25th at 9:00 am. We will not have our regular Saturday evening Mass on the 24th to accommodate our host church.

Convocation
Social Justice: Why Do We Care?
November 5th, 3:00 pm
We will have three convocations this year exploring the "third leg of the stool" at Sts. Clare & Francis, namely service and justice. Frank is going to lead us off on Saturday, November 5th at 3:00 pm with "Social Justice-Why Do We Care?" Frank's approach is going to be about why we, as a church, bother getting involved in social justice anyway.
A second convocation later will present an overview of the strong tradition of social justice in the history of the Church.
A third convocation will showcase different members of Clare & Francis, who will explain the work that they are involved in on behalf of social justice; hopefully this will demonstrate opportunities for others to live out this vital aspect of who we are. Please mark your calendars; this may be a stretching opportunity.
