Fair Trade Coffee This Saturday
October 8, 2011
The coffee peddlers are offering an assortment of FAIR TRADE coffees, tea and chocolate products on the SECOND WEEKEND of each month here at Sts. Clare & Francis. This October 8th, we'll be set up in the Gathering Space to make it easy for you to support farmer coops of growers to receive a fair price and market assistance for their agricultural work. Many farmers would not be able to maintain their living without the contracts that they make with marketers like Equal Exchange who guarantee them a stable price and credit help to keep producing. See Sue Stolze on Saturday.
PS. If you need coffee at another time, email Sue at scstolze@sbcglobal.net and we can work something out.

3rd Annual SCF Trivia Night
October 14, 2011
Mark your calendar for the 3rd Annual Sts. Clare & Francis Trivia Night! We are returning to The Heights on October 14, 2011, for a fun filled evening from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Trivia will begin at 7:00 p.m. Watch for the reservation form.
We are in need of financial contributions, attendance prizes, silent auction items and volunteers to make this a successful event. If you know someone who owns a business, please ask them to make a contribution to a great cause. All of us have favorite restaurants or shops that we frequent. The next time you visit one of your favorite places, ask them for a gift certificate. Most places really do enjoy giving back to the community.
1. If you would like to volunteer, contact Mary Ellen Kruger at mek002@hotmail.com or 314-962-0964.
2. If you have an attendance prize donation that you believe has a value of $25 or less, please contact Peggy Montgomery at catto89@hotmail.com or 314-647-0664.
3. If you have a silent auction donation that you believe has a value over $25, please contact Nancy Wamser at walksoftly6@yahoo.com or 314-394-6654.
Put October 14th on your calendar and start working on getting together a group of friends to join you.

Joann Noll's house
Just as a tree grows best when anchored firmly in the earth, so can a pregnant mother feel strong and capable when supported by a sisterhood of nurturing friends.
- April Lussier
As a community we support women crossing the threshold into motherhood. Our sister, Liz McMullen, is due to give birth to her first child, a daughter, in November. We journey with her, supporting her in a couple of ways.
First, anyone can submit a blessing to be included in a Blessing Book. It can be a note, a letter, a poem a piece of art. You may email your blessing or give it to Jessica at church.
Second, all of the women of SCF are invited to a BlessingWay ceremony at Joann Noll's house in Webster Groves on Saturday, October 15th at 3pm. We will gather to surround Liz with our prayers, songs, and our blessings.
If you have any questions, contact Jessica or Joann.

Laurel Rowley's Baptism
October 29, 2011
Dear beloved community,
We are thrilled that our daughter will be baptized surrounded by our Sts. Clare & Francis family. In our two pastor home we have some special circumstances and would like to ask your help. We anticipate many of Joe's church members from Prince of Peace UCC to be in attendance as well as out of town family and local friends with their children. We would love to show off SCF's hospitality. We're looking for someone who could coordinate an appetizer potluck in the fellowship hall following Mass. Also, there will be a number of small children (baby through age 3). If we can find two people who could watch kids in the nursery for the Liturgy of the Word, we would like to offer that to our guests. Let us know if you can help in any of these ways.
Laurel's Baptism Invitation
With heartfelt gratitude,
Jessica and Joe Rowley
