Presiding Bishop Nominating Committee
Two members of Sts. Clare & Francis will play a large part in selecting the next presiding bishop of the Ecumenical Catholic Communion (ECC). Frank Krebs (as current president of the House of Pastors) and Michelle Smith (as delegate to the House of Laity) will serve on the Presiding Bishop Nominating Committee (PBNC).
The ECC Constitution calls for a nominating committee made up of the President and Vice President of each house, plus two additional members from each house. The PBNC is to put forth no more than three nominees for Presiding Bishop to be elected at the Oct 2012 Synod.
If you have thoughts about the qualities you would like to see in our next presiding bishop, or would like to suggest someone for consideration, please contact Michelle (e-mail or 314.494.1457) or Frank (e-mail or 314.740.1160).
Over the next six months, the committee will discern and pray for guidance from the Holy Spirit, and they are very interested in what SCF is looking for in our next presiding bishop.
For more information about the process, the ECC Constitution can be found here. (Scroll down to Canon 68 to see the process for election of the presiding bishop.)

The Matthew 25 Fund Needs Your Help!
The main purpose of the Matthew 25 fund is to give temporary financial assistance to members of our Sts. Clare & Francis community. Unless someone who has received assistance has told you about it, you have probably never heard about anyone who has been helped by Matthew 25. That is as it should be! Information concerning community members who allow us the privilege to assist them is held in the strictest confidence.
If you are in need of support from our Matthew 25 fund, or if you know someone in our community who may need our support, please contact Peggy Montgomery at 314.647.0664 or catto89@hotmail.com
The Matthew 25 fund is supported by the generosity of our own community. Our funds are coming very close to being depleted. If you can help us with a donation, it would be much appreciated. Just place your gift in the collection basket. If it's a check, please make it payable to Matthew 25. If it's cash, just put it in an envelope marked "Matthew 25." Thank you in advance for supporting this important ministry!

3rd Annual SCF Trivia Night
Mark your calendar for the 3rd Annual Sts. Clare & Francis Trivia Night! We are returning to The Heights on October 14, 2011, for a fun filled evening from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Trivia will begin at 7:00 p.m. Watch for the reservation form.
We are in need of financial contributions, attendance prizes, silent auction items and volunteers to make this a successful event. If you know someone who owns a business, please ask them to make a contribution to a great cause. All of us have favorite restaurants or shops that we frequent. The next time you visit one of your favorite places, ask them for a gift certificate. Most places really do enjoy giving back to the community.
1. If you would like to volunteer, contact Mary Ellen Kruger at mek002@hotmail.com or 314-962-0964.
2. If you have an attendance prize donation that you believe has a value of $25 or less, please contact Peggy Montgomery at catto89@hotmail.com or 314-647-0664.
3. If you have a silent auction donation that you believe has a value over $25, please contact Nancy Wamser at walksoftly6@yahoo.com or 314-394-6654.
Put October 14th on your calendar and start working on getting together a group of friends to join you. |

random sightings
wisdom...reflection...insight...amusement

In my closet I have a T-shirt with many names on it, which I wore to bed while I was sleeping in the wilderness. Matthew Fox, Hans Kung, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Martin Luther, Menno Simons, Meister Eckhart, Joan of Arc, Francis of Assisi, Hildegard of Bingen, Galileo, Copernicus, Peter Abelard, John Scotus Erigena, Tertullian, Origen, Jesus. All of these people made unauthorized choices in their love of God. They saw things they were not supposed to see or said things they were not supposed to say. They wondered about things they were not supposed to wonder about, and when Mother Church told them to stop they did not obey her.
Some of them died for their disobedience while others were locked in their rooms. Still others were sent out of the house and told to never come back. Many of them are spiritual heroes now. At least one of them is revered as the Son of God, but none of them got where they were going without passing through the wilderness first. Given their amazing comebacks, might it be time for people of good faith to allow that God's map is vast, with room on it for both a center and an edge? While the center may be the place where the stories of the faith are preserved, the edge is the place where the best of them happened.
