Updating the SCF Directory
Please help us update our directory. All registered members should receive a copy of the records (as they currently stand) via email, if you have not already received it. Please reply by email to let me know that you and your household's information is correct. As an added convenience, someone will be available each Saturday during June after mass with a hard copy of the directory; you could look at the info then and either note that it is correct or edit it. Either way we'd like to make sure your information is correct. If you are or want to be a member and do not receive an email, please contact me; and I'll be in touch with you.
Thanks.

Synod 2012
Yes, believe it or not, planning is underway for the next ECC Synod to be held in October 2012, probably in California. The leadership of the House of Laity has asked us to let them know who our lay delegates will be. Michelle Smith and George von Stamwitz served as first-term delegates to the Synod here in 2010. Carol Ogier and Steve Campbell have been delegates at the last two Synods, and their terms are ending. That leaves us with two slots to fill. If you are interested in serving as an SCF delegate to the Synod, or if you wish to nominate someone, please contact a parish council member in the next week. (Before nominating someone else, please discuss it with her/him and confirm their willingness to serve.) Feel free to contact any of the past delegates to learn what's involved. |
Pridefest Parade Update
Sunday, June 26, 2011
Meet at 11:00 am, Parade starts at Noon
Where to meet: TBA
Come join us as we march in solidarity with our LGBT brothers and sisters past thousands of bystanders! The parade happens Sunday, June 26 at noon. We will meet at a location-to-be-announced at 11:00 am, where we then queue up for the parade. The parade route is about 1.5 miles long along South Grand Avenue. It will take about two hours to walk the parade route. If you've never been in a parade, here's your chance, one of the largest in St. Louis! Afterward, we'd like to meet, relax, grab a cold one, and talk about our "parade experiences." We are looking for a convenient location for that; any restaurant/pub suggestions would be appreciated! Please consider joining us. We are hoping for a very large group to reperesent SCF. We will have sign-up sheets in the back of church or e-mail suenauert@gmail.com. |

L'ocal L'Arche
Hi everyone! I invite you to join us in our prayers of thanksgiving. We welcomed our first core member, Kim, on Tuesday! What a momentous occasion after many years of prayer and effort to bring a L'Arche community to St. Louis! We would not be here without your love, prayers, hard work and financial support! Thank you, thank you!
Long live L'Arche!
peace,

wisdom...reflection...insight...amusement
I would like to see churches teach their people how to have intelligent dialogue that doesn't degenerate into argument. We have to teach people that the Holy Spirit works in the middle of conversation. We see it time and time again - Jesus enters into dialogue with people; Paul and Peter and the apostles enter into dialogue with people. We tend to think that the Holy Spirit can only work in the middle of a monologue where we are doing the speaking.
