Think of life insurance as 'family protection'

If you think of life insurance as 'family protection' suddenly it goes from a burden to a priority in most people's financial life. A priority that should be reviewed at least annually.  If you have a life familychanging event,  such as the purchase of a home, a new child, a job change or loss of a job, the amount and type of family protection you have should be reviewed immediately. However, even without a life event you should receive recent quotes, as your premium could be lower for the same or better coverage. The type of insurance you own is as important as the amount of insurance you own. Below are a few links to the most common types of insurance. Refresh your memory about what is available and make sure your current policy is right for your family.

Even a spouse without income may still need life insurance

Can you make ends meet without the family caregiver?

If one spouse has no income but makes a home and takes care of the children, he or she may need life insurance. Remember, it's 'family protection.' How much will childcare cost if the caregiver spouse is lost?  The surviving spouse may also need help with the the household duties. In this case, a low cost term life insurance policy may be the answer to protect your family against an unforeseen loss of the family caregiver.

Not sure how much protection your family needs?

The calculator below is designed to help you estimate the amount of life insurance you would need to provide a sufficient income stream for your family.
