Real life example of why you should review your disability insurance

The average long term disability lasts over 2 years

Just yesterday I received a call from a client's secretary explaining my client, who is the breadwinner in the family, had been in an accident and was recovering in the ICU unit of a hospital. He will require major surgery and there is no time table for when he'll be able to return to work. The kicker? No long term disability insurance. Many but not all companies offer short term disability insurance. Most of the time, short term disability insurance replaces 60% of your salary (before any bonus) with coverage ranging from a few days to one year. However, any coverage your company pays for will be taxable when you receive the benefit. This is not very comforting when the average long term disability last two and a half years. Therefore, you need to review your current coverage by calling your HR department. Then request a quote below, we can run a variety of quotes to make sure you and your family are adequately covered for a reasonable premium. If you are self-employed and have no coverage, request a quote today.

Here is a simple strategy to lower the cost of a private disability policy working along with your short term policy from work.

Don't think it can happen to you? The numbers tell a different story.
