I am pleased to invite you to attend the MiNDS Colloquium TODAY Wednesday April 25th at 3:00 in HSC 4E20. Bring your coffee cup for coffee and cookies before the talk at 2:45.
Dr Pawan Sinha is a rockstar scientist. His work on development and plasticity of vision and face perception has uncovered new insights about the degree of plasticity in the human visual system. One of the grand challenges of neuroscience lies in understanding how the brain recognizes objects in the visual world. Tremendous progress has been made in determining the sites in the brain that may be involved in recognition. However, not much is known about how recognition proceeds. What are the computational principles that underlie our impressive recognition abilities? Research in the Sinha laboratory focuses on this issue using a combination of experimental and
computational modeling techniques.
Two years ago Pawan gave a talk at the annual neuroscience meeting and the unanimous response from our students at the meeting was "We need to get him to come to Mac!"
We nominated Dr Sinha for a Hooker and are very fortunate that he was selected. He is coming because the students wanted him to visit. Be sure to take advantage of his visit to learn about his research, humanitarian work, and knowledge about taking Science out of the lab.
We look forward to seeing you all at the talk today.
Regards
Kathy
