Dr. Louis Schmidt is a Professor in the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour at McMaster University. He is also a Core Member of the Offord Centre for Child Studies, Division of Child Psychiatry, McMaster Children's Hospital, and the McMaster Integrative Neuroscience Discovery and Study (MiNDS) Graduate Program, and Associate Member of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University.
Dr Schmidt's research interests include understanding the origins and developmental course of individual differences in temperament and the impact of early life events on human brain and affective development in clinical and non-clinical populations, using behavioral, molecular genetic, fMRI, and psychophysiological methods.
