Across the Bay Tent and Breakfast NewsletterHappy Spring!
May 2010
Happy May!
It has been a fantastic spring in Anchorage, and we are so excited for summer!  There is still 30 inches of snow on the ground Across the Bay, but it is melting quickly.
This newsletter features some great new venues, Skookum Charters with Jim Lavrakas, a brand new daily Seldovia ferry.  There are also some events in the area that have been ongoing, such as the Kachemak Bay Writers' Conference, and the second annual Seldovia Human Powered Fishing Derby.
It is time to get out and about, if you are in our neck of the woods, give us a holler, if only to say hi!
We still have availability over Memorial Day weekend, so if you are thinking about getting out of town, give a call.
Please feel free to forward this on to your friends and family members that will be visiting the Homer area.

Skookum Charters with Jim Lavrakas
Jim Lavrakas
Set up a fishing charter that will pick you up right in our front yard!

Captain Jim Lavrakas is a retired newspaper photojournalist who has owned a cabin on the south side of Kachemak Bay for 25 years. The only way to get to the cabin has been by boat. This is where Jim discovered how much fun it was to take friends and family fishing and "get them on fish"!

Let Jim show you the time of your life on board the fishing vessel "Skookum". Jim offers half, three-quarter and full day charters fishing for halibut and rockfish, and all the species of Pacific salmon.

A 35-year Alaska resident, Jim has been fishing for many years, and spent his first summer as a captain guiding clients on the saltwater for Baranof & Company in Ketchikan where he lived in 2009.

Larry Csonka's "North To Alaska" fished with Jim in the summer of 2008 when he operated a sportfish guide business on Anchorage's Ship Creek.
