A "qualifying assignment" is defined as:

The iPad will be delivered upon completion of the Candidate guarantee period and payment of the fee in full. The name of the person due to receive the Prize must be submitted within one week of vacancy submission to be eligible. The O'Loughlin Group reserves the right to cancel this competition or substitute the prize for one of a similar value at any time and will explain why they have done so upon their site.

 

A sincere thank you to those who supported the Abused Child Trust fundraising at Baguette Bistrot and Bar last Monday night. It was a huge success with $30,000 being raised for what is a tremendous organisation. I was deeply consoled by many people who this foundation holds a special place and to those of you who expressed this I am gratified on behalf of the Foundation. Next year will be a grander affair and I look forward to seeing you there!

For a change, good news this week coming out of the States with the US trade deficit narrowing. Exporters are obviously seeing the benefits in a weaker greenback. Any optimism from the States translates eventually to job hiring in our domestic market place. Great news except for the fact that certain industries are suffering from the skills shortage resulting in extended project completion times and reduced financial performance.

There has been a fair bit of commentary this week regarding upward salary pressures, but I see this mainly in those areas where the skills shortage is biting such as the mining and resources area and the energy sectors. Interestingly, the legal and accounting professions are also experiencing upward salary pressure. As organisations continue to broadcast increased profits this will surely create an environment where senior executive and mid level appointments once again attract significant increases in packaging arrangements.
