It defies logic that we have had to endure the GFC given today's report by the IMF that Australia is the best performing economy amongst the "developed" nations and we are showing a clear set of heals in recovery. The pain and anguish many companies particularly SME's who depend on small work forces have been hard hit and will continue to be effected through a lack of credit in the banking markets. These companies will also feel amplified pain with a catastrophic skills shortage which is currently hammering a range of industries and will continue to gain a strangle hold on the local jobs market as we move through the recovery. Whilst the Rudd Government continues to gloat about their economic prowess in delivering a firm footing in recovery, they did nothing but undermine any positive sentiment post federal election although they inherited a perfectly robust economic platform. We will keep our mutual fingers crossed as the market continues to strengthen but if the last week is any indication we have a very resounding recovery on our hands!
