Steve Gordon Paintings on exhibit July 1 - August 3, 2011
Steve Gordon taught painting and design classes for many years at UAA, then headed the Art program at Alaska Pacific University before exclusively making his living from the sale of his paintings. He has had numerous one man shows and his work can be seen in private collections across the country and in public collections across the state.
"I try to capture the "heart" of the landscape - the energy, movement, light, and space- more than a mere retinal impression of a place, " Steve says. "I work in a relatively large format so that I can paint the scene realistically while still maintaining loose brushwork. My work could be described as 'painterly realism'. Many of the paintings from this show are from my time spent visiting friends in Halibut Cove."
