We're seeking individuals to Homer capture stories that will be combined, edited together and culminate in a one-day video installation at Bunnell Street Arts Center April 14. Please read the description below, and come by the Bunnell Street Arts Center to check out an easy digital snap camera! The Bunnell Street Arts Center and the Pratt Museum are working together with the Alaska Design Forum on a project called Common Space. (For more info, www.commonspace-ak.org, and click on Homer.) Hasan Elahi, www.elahi.umd.edu, the artist chosen to work in Homer, will install a Community Video Portrait with compiled and edited video of shared Homer experiences in a one-day art installation at Bunnell Street Arts Center on April 14. This project is about telling stories; telling stories to each other . . . and stories of Homer. There will be numerous types of stories: communal stories, mythical stories, happy stories, sad stories, bedtime stories, work stories, fishing stories, private stories, and gossip stories. There will be stories about Homer, stories about bars, stories about churches, stories about family, stories that grandma once told, stories about the dog, stories about the playground, stories about driftwood, stories about boats, stories about small towns, stories about summer, winter spring and the fall, stories about day, and stories about the night, stories about the sea, stories about stories, and stories about the people of Homer.
So, please come by Bunnell, by March 24th during business hours Monday -Friday, 11-5 to check out a camera and start interviewing!
