VACCINE SIDE EFFECTS...
While it is very important to provide vaccine protection against common diseases, there are some fairly common side effects, which last no more than several days.
They include:
  • Discomfort at the injection site
  • Mild fever
  • Decreased activity and appetite
  • A small, firm, non-painful swelling under the skin at the injection site that goes away after several weeks

WHAT IS EATING YOUR PET?

Routine parasite screening helps us detect Giardia. Giardia is Alta Vista Veterinary Hospital's most commonly diagnosed intestinal parasite. This particular parasite is MICROSCOPIC!  You cannot see them with the naked eye.

Giardia commonly causes slight to severe diarrhea, but sometimes pets can be infected and not show symptoms. Giardia can live inside the intestines of humans as well.  People become infected by ingesting fecal contaminated water, soil, or food.

Keep ALL of your family members healthy

by having a fecal test done.

A small amount of stool (poop) less than 24 hours old can be dropped off at Alta Vista

and tested for $28 to determine if your pet has

intestinal parasites.

Dear Rocky,

Dear Rocky,
I have an embarrassing problem. Lately I have been waking up from my afternoon nap to find that I peed on my dog bed.  I do not realize I have wet my bed until I wake up and then I feel so terrible.  I am very stressed over this problem as I am a well-mannered Golden Retriever and I always go outside to urinate. Can you advise me on what to do?
Sincerely,
 Embarrassed Emily in Scottsdale

Dear Embarrassed Emily,
Alta Vista veterinarians can help you with this problem.  Do not be embarrassed, it is fairly common for spayed, female dogs to develop hormonal incontinence and leak urine during a deep sleep.  Your urine will be tested to make certain that you do not have a urinary tract infection and then a medication can be prescribed to stop your sleeping leaking.
Have a wonderful and safe April.
Thank you for trusting us to provide health care for your beloved, furry family members.
