ECFH Endorses Our Planet - Environmental Film Festival

The ECFH Group continued in its commitment to uphold efforts aimed at increasing environmental awareness, conservation and the sustainable development of natural resources. The Group signed on as bronze sponsors of the first ever Environmental Film Festival hosted by the Our Planet Centre at La Place Carenage. The festival runs from June to September 2012 and will feature international award-winning environmental films from the likes of BBC, National Geographic, Warner Independent, CNN, Walt Disney and so much more. Films will be featured twice weekly (Fridays at 6:30 p.m. & Saturdays at 3:00 p.m.) and proceeds are in aid of the development of a plastic bottle recycling initiative in Saint Lucia. For more information on the festival, visit the Our Planet website at http://www.ourplanetcentre.org/#!film-festival.

The ECFH Group has for a number of years supported green initiatives, which was further demonstrated in 2008 when the organisation took the bold step towards becoming more environmentally responsible with the launch of its Greedy for Green programme. This involves the adoption of environmentally-friendly practices internally across the Group's subsidiaries, as well as supporting external projects to promote environmental conservation and awareness, and to influence responsible environmental practices and behaviours.

Bank of Saint Lucia International Continues Support for Junior Achievers

Bank of Saint Lucia International, the offshore banking division of the ECFH Group continued its support for the Grande Riviere Primary School Junior Achiever's Program. For the second year in a row, the bank and its staff assumed the role as sponsors and mentors of the program. On Friday 8th August, 2012 the bank hosted a brief but important ceremony at the school to honour the students who had successfully completed the program.

Mrs. Kaluwa Maitre-Avril BOSLIL employee, former JA Participant and mentor was elated with the strides that the children had made thus far. Mrs. Maitre-Avril intimated that the program played a critical role in the children's development especially at this important stage in their lives and was thankful with the decision to sponsor the school. Mrs. Maitre-Avril also applauded the children's commitment to their company, which is officially registered and named, Little Green Hands.

The purpose of the Junior Achiever program is to provide students with an appreciation of the world of work by presenting them with real-life business experience. The students were commended for their dedication to the program, as they were able to successfully manage a farm while preparing for Common Entrance Exams. And, not surprisingly, they harvested and were able to sell their produce for a profit.

The Junior Achievement Program of St. Lucia is a project of the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and a registered member of the Junior Achievement International Member Nations. ECFH through its subsidiary Bank of Saint Lucia International is fully aware of the importance of nurturing the spirit of entrepreneurship especially as it relates to our national development and therefore endorses the Junior Achiever's program. Six staff members accepted the undertaking to mentor and coach the students in various business related areas. In the past, the Group has sponsored the Castries Comprehensive School in the Secondary school program.

ECFH Takes Home Commercial League Volleyball Trophy

ECFH takes home Commercial League Volleyball Trophy

East Caribbean Financial Holding Company Ltd (ECFH) was crowned the champions of the first ever Inter-Commercial House Volleyball Tournament, which ran from May to June 2012 at the Beausejour Indoor Facility. ECFH capped off an unbeaten tournament run with an action packed straight set victory over the Goddard Group of Companies.

The final score line however, did not do justice to the match as fans were on their feet from beginning to end. As with all previous games, ECFH powered its way to the championship trophy with explosive play from a team peppered with past national players. Few had an answer for the hard-hitting spikes of Amobi Armstrong or the near perfect sets of former female national player Gifta Dujon.

A prize giving ceremony was held immediately after the game with ECFH coming up big again. ECFH's Amobi Armstrong won the trophy for the Most Valuable Player-male while ECFH setter Gifta Dujon took the Most Valuable Player-female prize. The level of teamwork and collaboration exhibited in the tournament is a clear demonstration of ECFH's work ethic. ECFH continues in its stride to exceed expectations and achieve excellent both in work and play environments.
