Happy New Year!  If you made a New Year's resolution to read more, what better place to start than at the Library?!  And, check out all the programs available in the both Ludington and Scottville and all the great services and resources available online for adults and for kids.   

 

The library's collection of eBooks, downloadable audiobooks, music and videos continues to grow.  Check out all the new titles at www.MCDLibrary.org/upnorth.

list and get first notice of when new items are added to our digital collection. 

Don't forget -  downloadable audiobooks and ebooks from the Library's digital collection are now compatible with the Kindle, and Kindle Mobile and Cloud Apps.

The Keith Wilson Children's Center:

Construction Update

Big things are happening in Ludington as the new Keith Wilson Children's Center continues to take shape  - the exterior structure is quickly coming together.  When completed late next spring, the new addition will add over 5300 sq.ft to the library with a new children's library, a multi-purpose community room, an outdoor activities area and more.  

 

 
 

With a new Children's Library there will be room in the existing library for more technology, more public access computers, a larger young adult area and more space for adult collections and services.
Scottville Family Craft  
 
The Family Fun Craft series at Scottville Library continues Tuesday, January 3 - and the 1st Tuesday of each month - with a clay pot snowman.  Families are invited to drop in any time between 3:00 and 5:30 pm.
Discovery Club  
 

Students in 2nd Grade and older are invited to explore our world with retired teacher, Kathy Radtke, Wednesday, January 4, - and the first Wednesday of each month - 4:00 pm at Ludington Library.  This month, learn about

China and Japan - Practice eating rice with chopsticks as you learn about New Year's customs in these Asian countries.  Try your hand at the art of
origami - Japanese paper folding  
Chinese New Year Party  

 

Children of all ages are invited to celebrate Chinese New Year at Ludington Library, Thursday, January 26 at 4:00 pm.
MLO Great Start Collaborative Kids Hub
Grand Opening Party
 

Ludington Library will be home to a new Great Start Collaborative Kids Hub for Mason, Lake and Oceana counties.  Join us in celebrating its grand opening, Friday, January 27 1 - 7pm.  There will be crafts and other fun activities for children to enjoy.

 

The GSC Kids' Hub will be a 'one stop shopping' clearinghouse for information for parents and caregivers on quality child care, child care licensing requirements, child development, assistance with obtaining necessities or shelter for children, educational assistance, etc.

NEW All Hands on Tech Club
for Middle Schoolers  

 

Middle Schoolers are invited to join our NEW All Hands on Tech Club Wednesdays and Thursdays 3:30 pm at Ludington Library.  Members can play with  Hand-Held Video Games, eReaders, tablets, video cameras and more.  You must be in 6th grade or older, have Internet permission and a Library account in good standing.

 

Dig into Digital Mondays at the Library 
 

Did you receive an eReader for the holidays?  Are you looking to treat yourself to an after-Christmas gift? Drop in Mondays in January any time between 10:00 am and 5:30 pm at Ludington Library to test drive top-selling devices and learn how to use the Library's FREE downloadable collection. 

 

If you already have a device and are looking for assistance, please bring a laptop, if able, and the USB cable to connect it to a computer.
