FAQ

Q: What do I do if my Internet stops working?

A: There are many reasons this may occur.

1. Cable connection: Check that the cable connection going into the computer has not become loose or come out of the computer network port. Push it in until you hear a click. Wait about 30 seconds and test the connection. If there is still no connection, restart the computer and try again.

2. Power fluctuations: Even a power flicker could cause your Internet connection to drop off. Turn off the computer and power cycle the Subscriber Module (SM). Unplug from the wall, the black Motorola power cord coming from the SM, wait 15-30 seconds, and then plug back in. Wait about a minute and then turn on computer. Verify that there is a connection to the Internet.

3. Router issues: Routers allow multiple computers in a household or business to connect to the Internet at the same time - either directly or wirelessly. Again, power cycle the network by turning off the computer and unplugging power to both the SM and the router. Plug in the SM and wait 1-2 minutes. Plug in power to router again. Wait a minute or two, then power on computer. If this does not work, try connecting your computer to the SM. Unplug the connection from the Motorola power cord that connects to the router and plug this into your computer. Then reboot both the SM and computer and test your connection.

4. Software conflicts: Close out all programs, reboot your computer, and test again.

5. Spyware/Virus issues: Make sure install up-to-date spyware and virus removal software, so that if viruses do attack your computer, you will have some way of removing them from your system. Do a "full system scan" with your anti-virus, spyware, and malware.

6. Network issues: Unfortunately, there is little you can do to resolve a networking issue. If you cannot connect to the Internet, try turning off your computer, check cable connections, power cycle SM as stated above, then turn on computer.

If these steps do not resolve any of your issues above, it is best to call technical support at 1 888 965 5511. ext. 202. Our trained technical staff will be more than happy to help resolve your connection issue.

Seaside in the Community

Hello Rural Nova Scotians! Seaside has completed its 15th Community Information Session since early Fall. Many more are planned across our nine counties in the next months. These meetings are designed to provide local residents with up-to-date information on network development in their area. We encourage you to attend with friends and neighbours, and hear first-hand when your community will receive Seaside High-Speed Internet. Check our website calendar for the most up-to-date information.

County by County Update

Antigonish: Service in the Fairmont area has been corrected, and the signal interference issue has been resolved. If you have called in previously and were asked to wait for this correction, please call Customer Service at 1 888 965 5511 now. Currently, we are working to complete sites in the Ohio Lake Road area to serve southern Antigonish. Seaside employees will be present at the Antigonish Farmer's Market on Saturday, October 31st. Come by and say hello. Click here for a complete list of communities now served.

Seaside is Going Green!

Seaside is now requesting our customers to switch to receiving all future bills by email.  By actively going green, it reduces environmental waste, but also provides the advantage of receiving your invoice in the matter of minutes, rather than days or a week.

Please click here, which will open up your email program. In the subject line, state: "Switch me to email billing." It's as simple as that. If you do not have a Seaside High-Speed Internet email address yet, please call our technical support team at 1-888-965-5511, ext. 202, and request email billing for your account. Every little bit helps in reducing future environmental impact on our beautiful rural Nova Scotian landscape.

We are proud to be working to bring you a robust and reliable service.
