Seaside High-Speed Internet Update -  September 3, 2009
Dear Readers,

We are re-sending this email due to a content error in the County By County update section, which has now been corrected. Our apologies. Seaside High-Speed.

Seaside in the

Community

Seaside just completed a series of successful community meetings in Cape Breton and Guysborough, and many more are planned across our nine counties in the next months (see listings below for the latest). At these meetings, Seaside will provide local residents with up-to-date information on network development progress in their area. We encourage you to attend with friends and neighbours, and hear first-hand when your community will receive Seaside High-Speed Internet. Check our website calendar for the most current information.

County by County Update

Antigonish:
Two structures have recently been built in the Glen Alpine area. Once our radio equipment and power is connected, these sites will help serve communities in southern Antigonish. Our site acquisition team is currently working to secure two more sites, which will be built as soon as possible. A public meeting will be booked shortly thereafter. Click here for a complete list of communities now served.

Cape Breton: Seaside's 137th pole was installed on August 27th in Cape Breton. Seaside has hosted four community meetings throughout eastern and central Cape Breton in the past two weeks. Over 150 people have attended our community meetings and public announcements of service. We hope word will spread quickly through your local community regarding service. Click here for a complete list of communities now served.

Colchester: It is time to give us a call from Colchester! We have completed our latest chain of towers, running from West Montrose to Nuttby Mountain, and south to Wittenburg. Installation teams are waiting to install your Internet. Call today at 1 888 965 5511 to book a signal test.

Much of the main infrastructure is completed in Colchester. Seaside will soon begin its process of completing the network in areas where service is not yet available because of the challenges of the local terrain. These areas, called "signal holes," will be filled in as we near completion of the network. If you are in a signal hole, Seaside will soon request further information from you to help serve you with high-speed Internet. Click here for a complete list of communities now served.

Cumberland: We recently built and commissioned two new sites in northern Cumberland, and a new structure was constructed in Amherst Point in early July. We expect to have the radio equipment installed and the power connected at Amherst Point during the next few weeks. As well, Seaside has upgraded the microwave link to our Mount Pleasant tower. Residents who are served by this tower should see an immediate increase in speed. We are sorry for the delay in this deployment but are confident that this improvement will serve you well. Click here for a complete list of communities now served.

Guysborough: The interference issue surrounding our Cochrane Hill tower is being analyzed. Once this tower is fully operational, Seaside will notify area residents. A very well attended community meeting was held at the Sherbrooke Lions Hall on August 17th. Over 30 people attended to hear of service dates for local areas. Seaside continues to work on the network in the area, which may result in some short service delays. However, all residents are encouraged to call and book appointments for installations.  Click here for a complete list of communities now served.

Inverness: All tower construction throughout Inverness will be complete by the end of next week. Efforts are now underway to install all of the radio equipment on these structures, and we are working closely with Nova Scotia Power to expedite power connections, leading to site commissioning. Over the coming weeks, you can expect extensive coverage in Inverness County.

Four community information meetings have been completed in Inverness County, including a recent live demonstration of Seaside service at Glenora Inn & Distillery. The Inverness Oran and CBC Radio have done a terrific job keeping residents informed of the meetings being held.

Pictou:
Towers around Toney River, Scotch Hill, and Fitzpatrick Mountain will soon have power installed and radio equipment mounted. A public meeting has been booked for September 17th at 7 pm at the Lyons Brook Community Hall. Please join us as we review the progress of our project, and announce the dates when service will become available in these areas.

Pictou County has seen improvement in its installation rate. Many who had failed installations in the past are being called again, as Seaside has upgraded some software, and may be able to install your Internet successfully now.

Richmond:
We have secured a lease in the Rocky Bay Road area to build a tower. This site is now in the permitting phase. We will keep you informed of the progress. In the meantime, our North Fourchu tower will have radio equipment installed shortly, and then will be connected to the other towers in the network. Click here for a complete list of communities now served.

Victoria:
Much of Victoria County is already enjoying the benefits of Seaside High-Speed service. Two new service poles have been prepared with radio equipment, and will soon be connected to permanent power. Once the power connection is complete, residents will be informed of our added service. Click here for a complete list of communities now served.
