Time to make plans to attend WAGR Weekend 2012 in Gaithersburg, Maryland, July 20-22.
WAGR Weekends are fun, informal gatherings where we get to meet with each other in person. It's wonderful to spend time with other families who know just what your life is like. And meeting each other's children is the greatest! Our kids with WAGR get to meet other kids who are "just like me," and their siblings get to see that they're not alone either. For many families, it's a rare opportunity to just relax, reconnect with friends and make new ones!
Plans are all set for WAGR Weekend 2012 and we hope you plan to join us this year! We're returning to Gaithersburg, Maryland--in the suburban Washington, DC area. We've secured a great rate at a hotel that has an indoor pool and provides free breakfast, reserved our meeting and play space, and are anticipating another fantastic weekend for our families. Members of the National Institutes of Health WAGR/11p Deletion studies research team will join us for our Saturday morning informal meeting and will be available to chat privately with interested families as well. At Bohrer Park, the airconditioned facility where we will gather on Saturday, we reserved meeting space as well as the gymnasium. We'll have volunteers to help supervise and play in the gym with the kids. The park also features a wonderful waterpark/pool (with a separate pool for little kiddies), puttputt golf course, skate park, and outdoor walking paths. Both lunch and dinner will be served at the park, which is just a few miles from the hotel. Friday evening, the moms get together and then on Saturday evening, it's the dads turn!
Options for Sunday activities and arrangements to tour the NIH are underway and will be shared once plans are in place.
Washington, DC is an easy 20-minute drive from the hotel and the area's Metro transportation system has a station just a few miles from the hotel--and you can ride the Metro into DC to see the sights!
