Dear Friends and Families of the IWSA,

The IWSA is ringing in the New Year and we hope to build on our successes from 2010 and anticipate another great year in 2011.

First of all, we would like to thank everyone who made monetary contributions to the IWSA in 2010.  Thanks to your generous support we realized nearly 20% more revenue than budgeted and anticipated.  We can continue to provide our programs and services to our families because of your generous financial support.  THANK YOU so much.  We hope you will continue to support our organization this year and into the future.

As we enter the new year,

Our resolutions for 2011:
  • To continue to reach out to families and individuals affected by WAGR/11p Deletion Syndrome
  • To promote research on WAGR/11p Deletion Syndrome and to produce a publication of WAGR/11p Deletion Syndrome Physicians' Guide
  • To develop a Public Relations Information Packet that we can give to news agencies and other media outlets interested in our cause
  • To form committees of individuals willing to help grow our organization in 2011 and beyond
If we work hand in hand, together as a network of families and friends who have chosen to make an impact in lives of individuals with WAGR/11p Deletion Syndrome, we will continue to see great successes in 2011.  We are inviting you to climb on board the Gorilla Train.  Gorilla Moms, Gorilla Dads, Gorilla Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts, Uncles, Siblings we need you.  If you have any time you can dedicate to the IWSA, please contact Annie Prusakiewicz at TheMooZoo@aol.com.  Together we can make a difference in the lives of families in need.

With our appreciation for your continued support, you'll be in our heart.

IWSA Caring Quilt
Quilt Angelica 1
Angelica - California
We have two Caring Quilts -- one that stays at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland and is available to families who participate in the WAGR/11p Deletion studies.  We have another Caring Quilt that travels, to be held and snuggled by our families so we have the chance to reach out and support one another.  Accompanying the quilts are journals for families to record their experiences and/share a few words of support and encouragement.  So far the Caring Quilt has traveled from Wisconsin to Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Mexico and California.  Please contact Tammie Hefty at tammiehefty@yahoo.com if you would like to get on the travel list (second requests are welcome).  We hope to see it travel the globe this year!!!!
