Public Service Commission Hearing on United Water Rate Increase Proposal |
|
The New York Public Service Commissin is holding a hearing in Ramapo Town Hall on April 22 at 7pm, regarding a proposal by United Water Inc that would increase customer rates by 23.9% ($14.4m), and the Company's annual base revenue by 31.2% ($17.8m).
I feel that this proposal places an unreasonable burden upon our community; that the proposed desalinization plant raises concerns about human health and the environment; and that Rockland residents should not bear the costs of building and maintaining a plant while our water is being shipped to NJ free of cost.
Please join us in making this statement to United Water and to the PSC.
It is not necessary to make an appointment in advance, or to present written comments, in order to be heard. Persons will be called to speak at the hearing after completing a request card. All comments will be transcribed and become part of the formal record.
You may also participate by calling Town Hall at 845-357-5100 during the hearing.
The hearing will be broadcast live over our website, www.ramapo.org; via Cablevision local channels and FIOS Channel 32.
Complete details, including additional ways to comment, are available at the PSC website.
Sincerely yours,
Christopher P. St. Lawrence
