Simplex-IT Presents: Is It Time to Upgrade Your IT Infrastructure? And, If So, How?

Simplex-IT's next free Lunchinar will answer these frequently asked questions and in doing so help businesses of all sizes better understand how to keep up with today's rapidly changing technology.
This presentation (from Simplex-IT's Bob Coppedge and Kevin Dutkiewicz) will focus more on the network and less on your workstations: server hardware and software, firewalls, routers, new emerging technologies, etc. Older components can hamper your system - parts and support may be hard to come by, compatibility with newer software can arise, security may be compromised, and you may be spending more to maintain your older equipment than if you upgraded. If you are involved with the maintenance and management of your company's IT infrastructure this is a Must Attend Event.
Join Simplex-IT at Hattie's Café, 164 N. Main St., Hudson on Wednesday October 19, from 11:30am-1:00pm for a free lunch, networking with other business owners and professionals and stimulating conversation.
Seating is limited, so please RSVP to John@SImplex-IT.com or by calling 234.380.1277. We'll see you there!

Coffee 'n Contacts Spotlight Series
Have you heard the new buzz around town? Our Coffee 'n Contacts sessions have been revamped to include a "Coffee Spotlight Series" each week. A Streetsboro Chamber member can reserve a Spotlight for any coffee meeting in advance. He or she will have 15 minutes, at no extra cost, to present an interesting topic to the rest of the group. Note: this should not just be an "about my business" talk. Tell us something we may not know and find interesting. After the presentation, we will do our regular round robin of introductions and allow each person to answer our question of the day. Coffee networking sessions are held the first and third Tuesdays of the month at Arabica in Liberty Corneers Plaza from 8am-9am. Hope you can join us! Call the chamber office to reserve your spotlight! | |

Adult Learning Highlighted in Hiram's Weekend College SuccessFEST
Hiram, Ohio - On Saturday, October 29, 2011, the Weekend College program at Hiram College, along with the Office of Graduate Studies; will be hosting the first annual Adult Learning SuccessFEST to inspire interested adults to make a commitment to return to college.
The Weekend College program is geared to the needs of working adults, who may be too busy with jobs and family to attend traditional college classes; SuccessFEST will provide attendees with a multitude of information, activities, counseling, and testimonials from other adults who have succeeded in their lives after earning degrees at the Hiram Weekend College.
SuccessFEST is the inaugural event for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Weekend College. Established in 1977, the Weekend College at Hiram College is the oldest adult program in Ohio. Throughout its tenure, the Weekend College has graduated more than 2200 students, in a range of eight different undergraduate majors and the Masters of Art in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS). The event is also being held in concert with National Non-Traditional Student Recognition Week, sponsored by The Association of Non-Traditional Students in Higher Education, to recognize and celebrate nontraditional student success across the United States and Canada.
"Many working adults think they are too busy with families and careers, or simply lack the confidence to pursue their dreams and success by earning a degree," said Paul Bowers, Dean of Extended Learning at Hiram College. "SuccessFEST is specifically designed to break down those attitudes and barriers and put students on the road to success."
SuccessFEST begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, October 29 in the ballroom of the Kennedy Center on the Hiram campus, and will offer the following opportunities to interested adults:
ˇ Attend confidence-building mini-classes and experience Hiram's intimate, personal learning approach
ˇ Hear how other adult learners overcame barriers and achieved success
ˇ Talk with current Weekend College students about how they juggle family, career and education
ˇ Attend financial aid and transcript evaluation sessions, and tour Hiram's campus
ˇ Network with other non-traditional students, engaged, caring faculty, staff, and successful alumni
