My Health Toolkit Prescription Drug Enhancements

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is pleased to announce that My Health ToolkitŪ now features enhancements to the Prescription Drugs section that will make it easier than ever for members who have pharmacy benefits through BlueCross to manage their prescription drug costs.

In December, BlueCross launched the new look for prescription drug information along with several new features and tools. These My Health Toolkit enhancements retired the name My Pharmacy Manager and will simply provide a Prescription Drugs section under the Benefits tab along with direct links to the tools available.

With these new or enhanced tools, members can:

  • Get pharmacy-specific pricing estimates - Members select the pharmacies they wish to use to get more accurate estimates
  • View near real-time claims history - Displays claims just seconds after they are transmitted by pharmacies
  • Print a pre-formatted list of their medication histories
  • Receive personal alerts to help them better manage their medications

Members still have access to current popular tools such as:

  • Member-specific drug benefits
  • Therapeutic alternatives and cost comparisons
  • Generic savings opportunities

Single Sign-On

As part of the enhancements, BlueCross has also created a single sign-on process to simplify access to prescription drug information. When subscribers access the links in the Prescription Drugs section for the first time, they will be required to register at Caremark.com. After the initial registration, subscribers will not have to sign on to Caremark.com again once logged into My Health Toolkit. NOTE: Subscribers who already have a profile set up at Caremark.com will not need to register.

Family Access

Subscribers will have access to their covered, minor dependents' pharmacy information. However, due to privacy requirements, they will not have automatic access to pharmacy information for their spouses or adult dependent children unless their spouses or adult dependent children grant access. Likewise, if subscribers would like their spouses and adult dependent children to have access to their information, subscribers will need to grant access to them.

Cranberry Line, Fitted Gloves Now Offered by SCDA Glove Program

The South Carolina Dental Association glove program has expanded its product offerings to incorporate the Cranberry and EcoBee glove lines. This allows dentists who have been searching for hand-specific, fitted gloves to purchase them from the SCDA glove program at exceptional prices. The Cranberry Curve fitted nitrile glove is available for $65 per case and the Silkcare fitted powder-free latex glove is offered for only $90.75 per case. These prices are substantially lower than those from other glove suppliers.

More than 60 gloves from seven manufacturers now comprise the glove product line. The SCDA endorsed program, administered by Association Gloves, has added 10 new nitrile gloves, seven new latex gloves and one new vinyl glove. With the depth of the enhanced glove program, dental professionals are sure to find a glove with the fit and feel that will ensure their comfort all day long. Free samples of all the gloves are available.

Cranberry uses the FirstTouch manufacturing process, which ensures customers that their own bare hands are the first to touch Cranberry gloves. Many Cranberry gloves, including the LUV powder-free nitrile exam glove priced at $6.45 per 100, feature the NuSoft™ Formulation of lanolin and Vitamin E to minimize dry-skin irritation and ease donning. Cranberry's R200 powder-free nitrile glove costs just $5.20 per 100, has 200 gloves per box and is priced at $104 per case.

EcoBee shares the FirstTouch manufacturing process with Cranberry, but is "greener" than its conventional counterparts. EcoBee's BeeSure nitrile and latex gloves are made without the chlorination process, which may release harmful gases and liquids into the environment, and its product packaging is made with recycled materials. The BeeSure Slim powder-free nitrile glove is priced at $5 per 100 gloves, has 200 gloves per box and costs just $100 per case from the SCDA program.

With the expanded product line, and the availability of right-and-left-hand-specific gloves, SCDA members have more reasons than ever to support the SCDA glove program. High-quality gloves are available at extremely competitive prices, driving down the cost of doing business. And every purchase through the glove program generates non-dues revenue for the association at no additional cost to members. The glove program continues to offer a $5 McDonald's or Starbucks gift card for first-time buyers.
