In December, Dr. Phil Smith will be stepping down as Editor of the monthly Bulletin and the Bulletin: Extra Edition after faithfully serving for 16 years. Fluoridation Training Offers 4 CEUs  

The SCDA has planned a fluoride training event, worth 4 CEUs, for Friday, July 15, 2011.  The event will be held at the EdVenture Children's Museum. It will begin at 9 AM and includes lunch.  This event has been well attended in the past and professionals from the ADA and the state DHEC office will once again run the meeting.  Please complete the registration form.  Let me know at lathamp@scda.org if you have any questions.

DAD Volunteers Are Still Needed  

Plans for the third DAD Project are underway.  The project will be held in Florence, August 25-27, at the Florence Civic Center.  A volunteer form is posted on the SCDA website and hotel information is posted also.  Sign up now and plan to get involved.

Education Course for Patients with Special Health Care Needs

Each year, Dr. Carlos Salinas holds an education course on dental treatment for those with special health care needs.  This will be the 13th annual continuing education course and will be held, Friday, September 30.  The program will be held at the North Charleston Convention Center.  Click here for details.

Personnel Law & Fraud in the Dental Practice

SCDA MBG announces a seminar on Personnel Law and Fraud in the Dental Practice.  There will be two parts to the seminar dealing with subjects that may affect all dental offices.  The seminar is limited to dentists and/or their spouses only and will offer 4 continuing education credits.  Speakers will be: 

  • Mr. Stephen Savitz, a partner with Gignilliat, Savitz & Bettis, LLP, a law firm which limits its practice to labor and employment law issues representing management only.  Mr. Savitz is certified by the South Carolina Supreme Court as a specialist in Employment and Labor Law. 
  • Mr. Richard Livingston is the Senior manager in charge of fraud and forensic accounting services for Dixon Hughes PLLC.
