Potential Government Tax Credits for Small Employers
|
As
a result of health care reform, small businesses may be eligible to receive a
tax credit of up to 35% starting this year through 2013. To help small businesses in South Carolina
estimate their potential tax savings, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina
and BlueChoice HealthPlan, in conjunction with H&R Block, are offering
small businesses access to an online tax credit calculator. Currently,
any small business in South Carolina may use the calculator, either by visiting
BlueCross' website or accessing it directly at www.BlueSCTaxCredit.com.
Effective September 13th, a direct link to the calculator also will
be placed on the home page of www.SouthCarolinaBlues.com. Businesses
with no more than 25 full-time employee equivalents that meet certain other
criteria may qualify for the small business tax credit. For more information on
whether a small business qualifies for this credit, visit "Small Business
Health Care Tax Credit: Frequently Asked Questions" on the IRS website at: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=220839,00.html. You may also wish to speak with your
accountant to see if your office qualifies. |

HITECH / Health Care Reform Seminar
|
The first seminar
on the HITECH Act and National Healthcare Reform was held this past Friday and
it was a wealth of information. I
thought Mr. Reed Wilson did an excellent job discussing the new regulations and
potential pitfalls under the HITECH Act and how they can affect your
practice. Mr. Don Hardin also did well
with the daunting task of discussing the complexities that are involved with
national health care reform. Due to the
overwhelming interest in this seminar, we've added a second seminar on these
topics to be held on Friday, November 12th. It is already a quarter of the way full. The location,
speakers, etc. are all the same, the only difference is the date, so if you
have any interest in attending the November seminar and did not register in
time to make the September one, be sure to register soon. Click here to learn more about this
seminar and to obtain a registration form. |
