District Meetings Set

The
Pee Dee and Piedmont District meetings will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 and Friday, September 17,
2010. The Central District meeting is
planned for Friday, October 11, 2010.
The Coastal District will meet on Friday, October 22, 2010. These meetings give you a chance to see old friends, meet new ones, catch some CE and
most of all hear
an update
on what is going on with your association.
These
meetings are very important so if you haven't
made plans
to attend, I encourage you to do so today. Information can be found by visiting www.scda.org/calendar.cfm and clicking on the appropriate meeting.

Medicare Advantage Plans

In May of
this year, the SCDA sent all members a letter regarding Medicare Advantage Dental
Plans. Dentists were receiving letters that even though they did not
participate in the network, they may not be able to balance bill above what the
insurance company reimburses. Effectively, they were saying that by
treating the patient you agree to their network without a contract.
The SCDA has
worked on this issue and was recently informed that you are allowed to balance
bill if you are not a participating network provider. As a dentist, you
should have received a letter from Avesis regarding this update.

| XII Annual Continuing Education Course | |
Dr. Carlos Salinas of MUSC will be holding the XII Annual Education Course "Dental Diagnosis and Treatment of Individuals with Special Health Care Needs." The course will be held on Friday, September 24th beginning at 8:45 am at the North Charleston Convention Center. This course provides 7 hours of continuing education credits. It is not too early to go ahead and mark down Friday, December 3, 2010 for the next SCDA House of Delegates meeting. The meeting will be held at Virginia Wingard Church in Columbia; the same location as last year. Additional details will be sent in the future. |
