More Federal Mandates Coming Down the Pipe
Due to changes in reporting for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), we will begin collecting the social security numbers for dependents covered under the SCDA group health plan in 2009. We have not needed to do this in the past, so it will be quite the undertaking considering we have approximately 3,700 total covered lives under this health plan. I just received this news at the end of December and it is a federal mandate that we have all dependents' social security numbers reported to Blue Cross by January of next year. Please be on the look out for further information in the coming months. Any new hire or new subscriber to the plan effective 1-1-09 who wishes to cover their spouse and/or child(ren) will need to include their social securities at time of application. The correct application form for all medical insurance changes can be found at www.scda.org or by clicking on this link. |
