We're back from the Great Texas GI Joe Show and shipping again. Thanks for Greg Brown for inviting us - it was a great show! Check out the show report at our blog (with lots of pictures).
New Kaustic Plastik Gladiators  | | Kaustic Plastik 1/6 Gladiator |
At the Great Texas GI Joe Show, we had the opportunity to see prototypes of the Kaustic Plastik 1/6 Ancient Roman Gladiators.
- Celadus (Thraex), Pompeii ca.79 A.D.
- Astacius (Retiarius), Rome ca. 340 A.D.
The original production shots were not impressive, but the manufacturers have made improvements to both figures.
The weapons and armor are generally die cast metal and wood. The head sculpts are more detailed than the original images showed, and the "leather" pieces appear far more detailed, giving each figure a more finished look.
Kaustic Plastik is also offering its Realistik Muscular Body separately at a very reasonable price.
Overall, the figures are impressive, and we are offering them for pre-order. We expect the figure to ship towards the end of this month, so place your pre-order soon!
We also have pre-orders available on the ACI "Flamma" Gladiator, which features an outstanding head sculpt, finely detailed body and weaponry.

Ancient Roman Gladiator
Kaustic Plastik 1/6 Action Figure
The Thraex, or Thracian, was a type of Roman Gladiator, armed in the Thracian style with a small rectangular shield called a Parmula and a very short sword with a slightly curved blade called a sica, intended to maim an opponent's unarmoured back. His other armour included armoured greaves, a protector for his sword arm and shoulder, a protective belt above a loin cloth, and a helmet with side plum, visor and high crest.
The Kaustic Plastik Celadus figure features a newly developed, muscular body painted with fine skin details, a lifelike head sculpt, a diecast metal Thraex Gladiator helmet, armored leg protectors, a curved "Sica" sword, fabric cushioned gaiters and shoulder armor pad, leather(like) arm guard and belt, and a plastic "Parmula" shield.
Meticulously researched, the components of this figure are based on historical artifacts, and crafted of diecast metal, wood and highest quality leather-like materials.

The Retiarius, or net-fighter, was a Roman gladiator who fought with equipment styled on that of the fisherman. A weighted net, or rete, a three-point trident, and a dagger. The retiarius was lightly armoured, wearing only an arm guard and shoulder guard.
The Kaustic Plastik Astacius figure comes fully equipped for the colliseum, with a newly developed muscular body and lifelike headsculpt, Period-appropriate leather arm and shoulder guards, metal and wood trident, metal dagger, spikes and net.
Meticulously researched, the components of this figure are based on historical artifacts, and crafted of diecast metal, wood and highest quality leather-like materials.
