1st Annual Senior Tea ~ Class of 2011
"Honoring and Preparing our Seniors for their future!"
Some of our original G.E.M.S. members that started the program in 2006
 | As many of you know our organization was created by Adriane Simmons in 2006, and started out as G.E.M.S. -Girls Empowered By Morals and Standards and focused on teens ages 13-17, in 2008 the group expanded to include Jewels (ages 9-12) and we have now merged to one group!
Adriane's original members are now seniors and preparing to graduate from high school this school year! We have watched these girls blossom into beautiful young ladies through our program.
We are pleased to host our 1st Annual Senior tea to honor our original members and seniors with a very special tea! We feel that this is a special time in their lives as they begin their senior year and want to congratulate them on their accomplishments this far as well as provide them with additional wisdom and guidance as they enter a new chapter in their lives!
As expected, all of our graduating seniors will enter college in the fall of 2011! With this in mind we have also invited "Girl Power" guest, to serve as panelist during our tea. Our guest include college students and recent graduates that will help us offer our seniors advice, and inspiration.
One of our panelist, Ms. Nyeisha Scott, is currently the co-president of Spelman's National Council of Negro Women chapter and is currently a junior. Her field of study is in Comparative Women's Studies with a concentration in pre-medicine. Ms. Scott's ultimate goal is to be able to serve women through healthcare by becoming an Obstetrician Gynecologist. It is important to her to reach her aspiration and goals, but also to inspire young African-American girls to be smart, strong and bold! We look forward to Nyeisha and our other wonderful panelist sharing in this very special tea for our seniors!
