The WES Annual Conference 2009 is fast approaching and this special edition of our newsletter is to remind you of the great things that will be happening. There is an exciting line up of speakers and events plus a gala dinner at the Brooklands museum on Friday evening.
 
At the conference you will be able to gain insight from leaders in the fields of engineering, science and technology, attend learning and personal development sessions and have plenty of opportunity for networking.

2009 Annual Conference - Programme Highlights

 
Conference LogoWES has an exciting line up of engineers, technologists, thought leaders and personal development professionals at its annivesary conference. 
 
Speakers have been drawn from every corner of engineering and technology including Google, Rolls Royce, BP, National Grid and Arup.
 
Highlights include
  • A workshop on inter-company networks sponsored by BP
  • A school outreach event for years 7-9 on Friday 11th sponsored by Rolls Royce
  • Conference dinner Friday 11th at Brooklands Musuem
  • Technical talks and personal development sessions 
  • Two industrial visits

WES 90th anniversary gala dinner
 
Friday 11th September 2009 
Brooklands Museum, Weybridge
 
WES is celebrating our 90th anniversary with a gala dinner, with racing driver Alice Powell as the after dinner speaker, at Brooklands. This historic racetrack is where WES member Beatrice Schilling lapped the track on her motorbike at over 100mph in the 1930s.
 
The dinner takes place in the museum and transport to this exciting venue will be in vintage buses.
 
Don't miss this great event click here for more information and to book. Tickets are £65, guests are welcome. Overnight accommodation can be provided at the University of Surrey at £45 per person bed and breakfast.

Connecting Networks Session

Are you part of work based women's group or thinking of setting one up?
 
At this years conference WES has set up a session especially for you, sponsored by BP.
 
We have a fabulous line up of speakers who will share their experiences of women's networks.
 
So, whether you are the diversity and inclusion lead, network chair or simply interested in learning how to establish a group and what works this event is for you.

UKRC Busaries available
 
UKRC is the UK resource centre for women in science, engineering and technology and they are pleased to offer a limited number of busaries for women returners to wish to attend the WES conference
